Love is the greatest form of self defense

In the world that we live in, we are filled with violence and hatred. We live in a world filled with crime and evil people who will try to steal what you own. It is the purpose of martial arts and other self defense systems to protect us in a world of corruption. Martial arts was made to protect and nourish our health, enrich our lives, while securing our wellbeing in the face of danger.

However there comes a time when retaliating with violence is futile. Ultimately, unconditional love is the only cure for a world engulfed in a cycle of cruelty. What do we do when our enemies have taken everything from us and plan on taking our lives away?

Sometimes, we must make the choice to love our enemies unconditionally and that means we deny our right to defend ourselves. Love means letting go of selfish expectations and allowing others to hurt us as we forgive in return. Well then what's the point of self defense? Why practice martial arts? The purpose of self defense is to nourish our well-being but our well-being is not the source of our fulfillment. Protecting our well-being and prized possessions only serves to forge our identity until we are ready to take the final test. Our fulfillment is in a higher purpose and when we achieve it, we reach a higher level of divinity.

We find meaning in life when we are rooted in love. The love of others from the love of self. The love of what is true and noble. Sometimes, we must embrace our impending death peacefully and sacrifices our lives to inspire others. We must teach others with our deaths that love can break the cycle of endless violence and revenge. Ultimately, one of the greatest tests in life is whether or not we can fully love our enemies.

There is no power greater than that of Love. No matter how matter techniques you learn, how many principles you live by, how many battles you've won - you will never be able to live with purpose until you understand pure love. Only love can unlock within you the greatest power to ever exist in the Universe and only then will you transcend the physical realm into the spiritual. If you want to know the greatest form of self defense then learn how to love unconditionally.

Master the art of deception in self defense

Practicing the art of deception is essential in executing successful attacks against your enemy. This is precisely why i advise you to not let your enemy know that you are trained in any martial art. Pretend that you know nothing about self defense and that your just another defenseless civilian begging for his/her life. When you find the right opportunity then land a successful and deadly strike that will eliminate the threat instantly.

It's much more effective in making your intentions unknown in the face of adversity. Why? Imagine your walking down the street and someone talks trash in your face asking for a fight. You could get into your normal fighting stance but now, you've given away information about yourself to the enemy. You don't know if your enemy is also trained or more experienced than you in MMA, boxing, martial arts, or a trained ex-marine. You don't know if your enemy is armed or simply drugged. By giving yourself away, you may face disastrous consequences than if you passively tried to diffuse the situation with a smile or simply saying "i don't want any problems.." while preparing for a counter-attack in case.
Mastering the art of deception empowers you to see your enemy's weaknesses and strengths without having to make a move. Sometimes simply putting on the illusion that you are dangerous is enough to scare off an enemy without having to land one punch. The art of deception is what has enabled creatures such as these fish to survive for generations from hungry predators.

Every weapon is meant to be felt not seen. Keep this in mind and you will become deadly while moving in silence.

Use of psychology in self defense

The use of human psychology is rarely discussed in self defense when it can prove very useful in any situation. We can apply tons of self defense techniques in Martial Arts, use of guns and other deadly weapons but few are aware that the human mind itself is a vulnerability as much as the human body is. The use of human psychology especially criminal psychology can greatly even the odds of survival.

What are the essential questions in order to effectively use psychology?

1) Motivation - It would be alot easier to use psychology against someone you know than a complete stranger. What are the motives of your attacker? Demanding on how they interact with you such as demanding for money with a gun pointed at your head, you can then assess the situation and create a plan.

2) Understanding triggers and flaws - Knowing your enemy is very important when applying psychology. What causes your enemy to cower? What makes him or her tick? Is your enemy under pressure? How can you avoid them? What vulnerabilities does he or she have?

3) Manipulation - How can you use what you already know about your enemy's psyche to get the reaction that you want? This can range from creating a distraction or causing an enemy to overreact and thus over or under commit to attacking/defending. There's many ways that you can manipulate people by an in-depth understanding of human behavior.

It is important to understand that while your life is in danger, not every attacker will harm you if he or she will not benefit. For example, threats are psychologically effective when they are credible and when they are conditional. If the victim knows he or she will be killed then the threat is ineffective. It is also dangerous for the person sending the threat as the victim will have nothing to lose and will likely physically retaliate as a means to survive on their own terms. A prudent robber keeps this in mind when he or she holds everyone hostage in a store or bank. This mentality can aid you especially when you have a strong willpower and understanding of how to break thinking patterns of the common criminal.

This is a very insightful video that will illustrate my point of view. The mindset is essential first and foremost when it comes to any violent encounter.

In conclusion, psychology can help you survive unscathed when you understand fundamental principles and how to use them to your advantage. If you enjoyed this post, subscribe to my blog for updates, more advice, and exclusive content in the near future.
